Coffee Can Drum

1.  Clean a coffee can, keeping the lid for the drum.

2.  Decorate the coffee can using either paint or wrap with construction paper that can be decorated with stickers or colored.  You can also glue items on the can.

3.  Use various sticks (dowels, sticks from outside, utensils) to bang on your new drum!

Egg Shakers

1.  Have your child collect small rocks from outside.

2.  Put them inside the eggs, sealing it shut with tape or glue. 

Bean Shakers

1.  Clean a cylinder container.

2.  Place beans or rice in the container and seal the lid closed with tape or glue.

3.  Have your child decorate the outside of the container.

Shoe Box Drum

1.  Cut a hole in the top of a shoebox.

2.  Have your child decorate the shoebox.

3.  Place rubber bands around the shoebox over the cut out opening.

Spoon Drum

1.  Drill two small holes about 1 cm apart in the center of a wooden spoon head. 

2.  Thread a string through one of the holes and tie a knot to avoid it from slipping back through the hole.

3.  Thread the beads onto the string and tie another knot to stop the beads from slipping off.  Cut of any excess string.

4.  Do the same steps for the second hole on the opposite side of the spoon.
